"What's there not to like?" Mingyu answered, only to have his voice catch on his fluster all over again as Fox's hand drew close, gaze tracking Fox's fingers, eyeing the plug—

And then Fox stalled to whine about the bet of all things, causing Mingyu to startle himself with a bright laugh, shaking his head at the pout on Fox's face.

"It's not a choice, it's a bet," he pointed out, leaning up to kiss Fox's precious lips. "You're supposed to be trying to drag this out. But I guess you can switch which outcome you're aiming for if you really want."

A quiet, breathy moan escaping him, Mingyu pressed down into Fox's touch at once, trying to get more of him, feel more of him. Mingyu could seldom be called a greedy man, but in this he was voracious. He gave up on the bet, figured it was as much a coin toss now or anything. Whenever they ended, whenever they left, that would decide their next activity and whatever lost out could wait until they got home. Speaking of...

"—so we agreed you're moving in, right?" he voiced with an air of deliberate casualness, trying to sound nonchalant about it. No big deal, just his secret boyfriend and definite love of his life moving into his apartment. It was just an extra three, four days a week. Didn't change anything at all. Definitely.

"How am I supposed to get sick of you when I've never once had my fill of you?" Mingyu demanded, moving straight past relief at the apparent acceptance of his request right back to uncertainty. Blinking, he sat up and took Fox by the wrist, stopping him, gazing steadily into the green of his eyes.

"...of course I want you to. I— I want to spend every second of every day with you. Doing this, or— Or watching you do other kinds of magic, or watching you eat, or telling you stupid jokes until you laugh. You're not... someone I'm putting up with, Huli," he insisted, leaning in close. "Being with you is a privilege. A gift. ...I love you."

But how could Mingyu offer anything less than what Fox gave him? For all the money, the fame, the status— Mingyu hasn't had a home to go back to once since his parents passed and with them so too did his childhood home. The building was still there, full of memories, and yet it'd gone cold. Just an empty shell, like a corpse on its own.

Fox, meanwhile, seemed to breathe life into everything.

"Y-Yeah?" Mingyu winced, hating that he couldn't keep the tremor of excitement and disbelief out of his voice, forcing himself through it all the same as he grinned wide, letting go of Fox's hand to kiss him again, and again, and again. He crawled up, knowing Fox would only push him right back down, to clamber halfway into Fox's lap, giddy, peppering clumsy kisses over most of his face.

"Okay, you're moving in!" he repeated between kisses, voice all a rush with his surge of adrenaline. "We'll have to celebrate when we get back— Maybe I'll announce a vacation, book a flight to Europe... and stay at home with you all week, not leaving bed for anything. We'll live off granola bars and tap water and test out all the practical applications of magic in bed. Does that sound good?"

Look, Mingyu knew a thing or two about his fox and he wouldn't spring Europe on him like that. Work him up to it, sure. Call it a honeymoon in the future, with or without the associated wedding. Something. Anyway.

Mingyu smiled readily into that kiss, heart so full of joy it ached. It was perfect, and this was perfect, and Fox was perfect, and Mingyu felt suddenly terrified that it was too much. This was too much good to have, too much good to get.

There had to be a catch. There was always a catch. A price to be paid. In magic, in life, in everything.

When people were greedy, got too much good. That was when tragedy would strike.

Shivering a little, Mingyu pushed past it. It didn't matter. He didn't care. He wanted this, would have it, would stop at nothing to keep having it. He went through life never asking for anything, and he would have this.

Sighing out in pleasure and satisfaction as Fox began to move his hand once more, Mingyu ground down into his lover's lap with renewed enthusiasm.

"You're what's perfect, Huli."
